Taming The Tiger

In the past, I started working out four and even five times a week (read My New Workout Routing blog post). But since a couple of weeks I’ve been aborting my workout sessions more frequently. Last week I had chest pain around my right lung. The other day I had pain around the heart area during a workout session. Today I have constant knee pain on the leg where I got injured in my childhood Tae Kwon Do training. I am not sure if my body does not sustain my workout schedule, or is it fatigue, or whatever. I am going to make it a bit easy on my body and train for at max three times a week this week. You would probably say I am softening. Or I am procrastinating once again, and disguising it in an excuse. Call it what you like. Alhamdulillah I reached a point where I do not need to work out more than what I do now. I am not sweating to impress people, nor do I prepare to participate in a competition. In fact, one of the reasons I still fight my ass off and often temporarily losing ...

Discipline is Not a Trend

On my way home I saw a man jogging in a shirt and shorts. It is 3°C outside. He was running the inclined trail going by the pedestrians, whose attention was caught for seconds. I also was a bit surprised to see such a thing in this weather. But soon I regrouped my thoughts. It did not make a sense to me. I do not want to judge this guy of being a pretender or a show-man. To me, if he were to look really disciplined, then I should have seen him at least two times. It reminded me of my years in Tunisia, when I was jogging each weekend. I used to see a lot of new faces each weekend of spring time. Some of them were young guys “training” their muscles near the bar. I won’t forget that one guy who did pushups with a cigarette in his mouth! But very few faces were familiar from a weekend to another. I only remember one old man, jogging constantl...

In a previous post I wrote about the importance of deep breathing . In this post I expose what I have done in this area. I am doing the Wim Hof breathing method each day now since a little more than a month. How I do it The way I do the Wim Hof Breathing Method is to: lay on the couch alone in a room. Sometimes I switch off all lights. Some other times I let the torch on my phone . To ensure that I do not get disturbed by my family, I only do the Wim Hof Breathing session either in the early morning or right before going to sleep. put my bluetooth headset on during the breathing session. tweak the Wim Hof Breathing Method app settings: in the morning I deactivate the background music, so that I enjoy some seconds of light sleep. In the evening however, I activate the music because it relaxes me and provides me with company. Results after doing it for some time I did the exercise for about three weeks, once in the morning before I go to work, and sometimes once just before I sleep. I u...
